DEVELOPMENT PLAN OF ST.
JOSEPH'S COLLEGE OMBACHI
St. Joseph’s College, Ombaci in 2000 prepared a Development
Plan, which identified the key problems facing the school and
laid out proposals to gradually address them.
Among the key issues raised were the following:
(a) Facilities which were meant for four hundred and fifty students
now accommodate close to eight hundred students; the number
of staff has also increased correspondingly.
(b) The pressure from parents to admit more students because
of the relatively good academic performance of the school continues
to increase. The Universal Primary Education graduates will
soon add to this pressure.
(c) The curriculum continues to develop and new facilities especially
in the field of information technology must be catered for
The Plan identified some ongoing activities:
(a) Refurbishment and improvement of existing structures (classrooms,
laboratories, dormitories and staff houses)
(b) Improvement of water supply and drainage systems; and
(c) Repair of existing furniture and fittings.
It also proposed a number of additional actions to improve the
situation in the school in the short, medium and long term,
including:
(a) Construction of additional classrooms and dormitories;
(b) Improvement of sports facilities (fields and equipment);
(c) Provision of basic facilities for new/expanding subjects
in the curriculum;
(d) Procurement of new workshop and laboratory equipment; and
(e) Construction and stocking of a new library.
