Achievements & Impact

In its short period of existence, URLCODA has been able to:

• Establish 15 intergenerational literacy learning centres spread over four sub counties of Arua District
• Mobilise 664 OVCS who being supported with scholastic materials and school fees in 12 primary schools and 1 post primary school in Arua District
• Implement grinding mill and poultry projects to generate income for the OVCS and its HIV + members
• Establish collaborative relationship with 13 primary schools and three renowned NGOs in Arua District
• Successfully produce 600 copies of their own reading material in local language
• Mobilise 800 learners for intergenerational literacy learning
• Form URLCODA HIV/AIDS Club to offer psychosocial/counselling services to its HIV positive members
• Train 40 youth in skills of performing music, dance and drama for HIV/AIDS education
• Launch an experimental assessment/examination for intergenerational literacy learners with effect from February 2005 and with turn up of 600 learners; and
• Procure traditional musical instruments for community HIV/AIDS Education through msic, dance and drama
